Jesus: 1. Deer: 0. Thank you, Lord!

On the way home from the store last night, I hit a deer.  My daughter was with me.  As soon as it happened, I said, "Princess*, are you okay?"  (She barely noticed the impact.)

I said, with a sigh of relief, "We are okay."

Then I pulled over to the side of the road and said aloud, "Thank you, Lord, for your protection in that!"  My daughter said, "Yes, thank you, Lord!"

I called my husband to let him know and to be sure I could keep driving home (it happened less than a tenth of a mile from our neighborhood entrance).  Based on the location of the damage to the car, we were fine to drive home.  The car is damaged, but not as badly as it could have been.

Thank you, Lord.

As I sat in bed last night, my mind replaying that moment, I remembered that on the way to the store, I had asked my daughter, "Princess*, do you love Jesus?" She had replied, enthusiastically, "Yes!"  And I asked her why she loved Him, and she said, "Because He is our Lord's Son!"

As I gloried in her response, I remembered where on the road that the impact occurred.

The deer ran out in front of us at the exact same point on that road that she had said "Yes!"

No matter where we are going in our lives, and no matter what happens at any point, the most important thing is that we love Jesus.  If we believe in Him as the Son of God and as our Savior, then what happens on this side (of life) doesn't matter.

On the other side, it's all better than good, if we love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Thank you, Lord.

"As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God."
--Psalm 42:1
