My first two weeks with Trim Healthy Mama!

Whew.  I did it.

Two weeks of Trim Healthy Mama.  It IS an accomplishment.  For some, it is small.  For others it is huge.  For me, it is a boost of all kinds of confidence!

I've told you before about how unprepared I was for being a wife, mother, and homemaker.  But I may not have expressed that strongly enough.  Really.  I could make macaroni-and-cheese and I could make spaghetti.  That's it.  The rest of my kitchen skills came in a thin square box stamped with "Stouffers" or "Tombstone".  Or at least in a box with directions on it.

Frozen pizza and brownies.  We ate a lot of that early in our marriage.  Occasionally, I'd branch out and buy a French Bread Pizza.  Same box.  Same meal.  Different shape.

Since having my daughter (seven years ago), I have s-l-o-w-l-y been on a mission to learn more of my way around all things meal preparation.  I started with couponing.  That got me a ton of boxes in my pantry that may not actually qualify as food.  Sure, I was up for finding deals!  But we ended up throwing away most of those great deals.

And we were still hungry.  And not nourished.

Fast forward to this week...

This week, I'm beginning Week 3 on the Trim Healthy Mama Plan!  No boxed foods.  No packages with directions.  Just recipes and ingredients to make my family some amazing meals!   And they have been truly amazing!

I will share my menu for week 1 and 2 in my next post, plus a bonus menu for this week (week 3)!

Just a tip:  if you want to try to follow Trim Healthy Mama's plan, I highly recommend buying their new cookbook.  It has been a total game-changer for me, as it gives me so many options for what to make each week, and it labels what type of meal and snack they are so I don't have to figure it out!

But, Melissa, are you seeing results already??

YES I AM!!  (Drumroll, please...)

I have lost 8 lbs in just 14 days following THM!!!!  And, I admit, I had two "cheats" during that time. But it did not knock me off track too badly...since the THM experts tell me that I can get back on track just three hours later!  Now THAT is my kind of quick reset!

No, eight pounds is not very much weight, but since my weight hasn't budged in YEARS of trying various things, I am so pleased!  I have a goal to lose at least 40 lbs.  So, 8 lbs puts me 1/5th of the way to my goal!  At this rate, I'll hit my goal by Christmas!

Go me!  And go YOU, too, if you want to join me on this journey!

Stay tuned for many more posts on my Trim Healthy Mama meal plans, reviews, and results!

  2. How expensive is it to follow? I am trying to make healthier meals, mine don't all come premade, but then to have premade ingredient (jarred marinara, cream of soups, enchilada sauce, etc.). My fear is that this plan will double my food costs. Are you finding it affordable or to expensive?

    1. Hi Rachel! I have not spent more than my usual weekly grocery budget on any week so far! I figured if I can at least keep to my current budget, that is good, and as time goes by and I find that I have the items needed already in my pantry, the costs will likely decrease! I'm adding about 2-4 new ingredients to my pantry every week as I try a new recipe or two. Then the other meals are very simple, basic meals. Such as a marinated chicken breast served with veggies and wrapped in a low-carb tortilla. Easy-peasy and inexpensive! :)
