Does Your Mouth Need Help?

How many of our problems are the results of our own words? If we believe our words are important, we need to pay attention to what we are saying.

The following are comments I've heard freely flow out of the mouths of Christian women, including myself (sadly):

  • I'm sick and tired of this house.
  • I'm sick and tired of my husband.
  • My kids are driving me crazy.
  • I feel like I'm going insane.
  • I can't do it.
  • I hate cleaning this house.
  • I hate driving.
  • I hate my body.
  • I hate my life.
  • It's too hard.

Words are powerful. We can hurt our future with the words we speak or we can help our future with the words with speak.

One of the traps women fall into is complaining. We complain, complain, and complain some more when we should be praising God. Praising God is to speak of the great things He has done. When we choose to praise Him our horrible attitude is replaced with a thankful heart.

Complaining is a sin and it opens many doors for the enemy. When we complain we remain, so if you're stuck examine your words. Praise, however, moves you forward.

If we really start listening to ourselves, we will find there is not a day that goes by that we don't speak negatively about something or someone. We should have a goal to be thankful everyday about something in our lives. It changes our stinking thinking and allows praise to freely flow.

Think of doing the following:
  • Send a thank you note to someone.
  • Thank your husband for being the provider of your home.
  • Sing a song of thanksgiving to God.
  • Prepare a meal for a family.
  • Visit the sick or elderly.
  • Clean someone's home.

Do all things without grumbling or disputing. Phil 2:14

Prayer:

God, help me get through everyday of my life without complaining or faultfinding. God, I thank you that you are working in my life. I believe you can change my words to speak that which is true, good, and edifying.

Affirmation:

I will worship you in spirit and in truth. I will remember what you have done for me and boldly proclaim your goodness.

  7. What a great post.
I've worked really hard to get rid off all those negative comments I used to say and I feel so much better. I focus on being positive and to see something positive in all things and I don't complain anymore..It's so much negativity in the world so we are so surrounded by negativity in our daily life so we have to work so hard to stay positive sometimes..I chose to stay out of conversations that can drag me down and look for encouraging conversations or readings..I also try to understand people better to as why they act in a certain way that normally would make me upset with them..

Scripture studies have really helped me..When things are not going the way they should the scriptures are really comforting..
