The Beauty of Children

Some of you know that God gifted me with a child that has a little something extra. I didn't always think my Ella was a gift. I couldn't understand why God would give me a child with "special" needs when I felt so inadequate and unqualified to mother the children I already had.

I'm not sure that I completely understand it five years later, but I don't need to. What's important is that I know she's a gift, a reward given to unworthy me (Psalm 127).


Ella has Down syndrome or Trisomy 21 (T21). Down syndrome occurs when there is an extra copy of chromosome 21. Down syndrome causes developmental and physical delays. 

This extra chromosome doesn't always place nice, but it has given me a new perspective on the beauty of life and children.

I want to share beauty captured through the lens of a gracious woman and photographer.

Take a walk with me into the life of Masha and Autumn. Their mommy has six children, 3 of whom have Down syndrome.

  2. Thank you for sharing honesty and growth in spirit and heart. My nephew was born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, my sister 19 years later is still searching for why and how. I pray that the Lord will lift the veil and open her eyes to the gift of my nephew. To understand that the challenge of the physical and emotional needs are not oppressing but working a good work within her and my nephew. Realizing that the Lord honored her with the gift of being his mom. Any child with challenges are just that a beautiful gift from God. Thank you for sharing this today Jasmine and the beautiful pictures of each sweet baby they are all so adorable. May you be blessed richly.

  4. Your pictures are beautiful and they captured a sweetie of a child. Cupcakes!!! Fantastic. Her eyes sparkle with joy.

    We do come into this world like an opened book that the pages need written on. Learning as we go with God we will see things we know not of.
